Down The Rabbit Hole

A ship in harbor is safe, but that is not why ships are built.

As this rather crappy year comes to a close, and a new one that promises to be worse rears it’s head I thought I would take a moment to review 2008 and discuss 2009.

In my life 2008 was a better year than 2007.  No dogs died, and we got a new little furry who is just absolutely wonderful.  We moved into our house, and not into a tiny apartment for the winter.  I also had a wonderful part time job over the summer and got to work with some great people.  For me, this helps make up for the slow car crash that is the economy and the second coming of Christ… err….Obama being elected president.

Some great new research came out of our various scientific fields, giving me hope that some brains are still functioning, while the continued wars in Afghanistan and Iraq tend to show otherwise.

Now some rabbitty predictions for 2009…..

We’ll get the house finished.

The DOW will drop  below 5,000 points.

The new assault weapons ban will be voted in.  There will be no enforcement in the mountain west states, Alaska, or the south.  Enforcement in other areas will be difficult, resulting in additional violence all over the country and more political prisoners.

Businesses will continue to fail.  At least 250,000 small businesses and 15 large box/mall chains.

The Montana smoking ban will be widely ignored, and enforcement will stop.  In 2011 they will either change it or eliminate it.

The sand angel will become a snow angel (at least temporarily).

Lastly, the ever exciting New Years Resolutions! Since I cheated a bit and did some resolutions at Samhain, I’m slightly ahead of the curve.

Lose weight (I did lose some this year, but not near what I wanted to.)

I have to stop drinking in bars.  Period.  I’m a resonable social drinker outside of them, so I should be OK there.  If not, all drinking ceases.

I want to pay off all of my debt this year, eighteen months max.

I want to get a new career started up before this coming summer. (I’m sure I’ll still keep my other two jobs I currently have, at least for a while.)

So, good ridance 2008, and 2009……………………………..bring it!
